The Los Angeles City Council banned tour bus operators from advertising on the sidewalk, a move they say will help increase pedestrian safety.

Advertisers must now market to the public on private property from shops or kiosks.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame attracts thousands of visitors each year. The new ban initiated by councilman Mitch O'Farrell, is designed to control the number of cd vendors, performers, advertisers and tourists who crowd the newly revitalized area of Hollywood Blvd.
