The scientists will be honored next month at an energy summit in Israel.

The government of Israel announced Wednesday that two USC professors will be honored for their energy research.

George A. Olah and G.K. Surya Prakash will receive the 2013 Eric and Sheila Samson Prime Minister's Prize for Innovation in Alternative Fuels for Transportation, according to the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The professors, who will receive a $1 million in prize money, are researching methods to replace fossil fuels with methanol in order to lower the air pollution produced by ground transportation.
