Student Affairs Encourages New Alcohol Education Policies

Student leaders and university officials met to discuss changes to alcohol education and social event policies.

Student Affairs Vice Provost Ainsley Carry sent out an email to students Monday detailing possible changes to the University of Southern California's policies regarding social life.

Seven university officials from student services and fifteen student organizations discussed creating a healthier social campus life and culture, and came up with solutions falling under three themes.

The themes include: updating educational strategies, assessment and updating exsisting social event policies, and alignment of environmental cues.

Some of the solutions will include updating alcohol.edu, establishing policies that reward moderation and saftey, and creating access to more nighttime activities that do not involving drinking.

Many students are in support of the changes.
