Ugandan Warlord Joseph Kony in Talks to Surrender

State Department officials said the talks were unlikely to bring an end to Kony's brutality.

Joseph Kony, the Ugandan warlord known for turning children into soldiers and sex slaves, is negotiating with the Central African Government about his possible surrender.

U.S. State Department officials told the Associated Press that the reported negotiations are unlikely to bring an end to the brutality carried out by Kony and his senior commanders.

Invisible Children, an organization that rescues and rehabilitates child soldiers, highlighted Kony in their online video "Kony 2012" which was released last year and viewed more than 100 million times.

Emily Zolfaghari, who works with Invisible Children, told ATVN that if Kony does surrender, it will solidify the viral video's success.
