President Obama Signs Executive Order Expediting Import Process

The executive order changes wait times for moving goods across the U.S. border.

President Obama signed an executive order Wednesday that will transform the import and export process from a days-long process to a minute-long electronic process.

At the moment, businesses have to submit numerous paper documents to several government agencies.

The executive order will change the International Trade Data System, allowing business to submit documents electronically and get a response within minutes.

The new system is expected to be up and running by December 2016.
