New Social Media Craze Linked to Five Deaths

The online drinking game is called Neknomination.

Neknomination, a new social media craze, has left at least five people dead.

The online drinking game has people around the world post videos of themselves drinking large amounts of alcohol. They then dare or "nominate" a friend to beat them and post their videos online.

There are five confirmed deaths from the game, but there are reports there may be up to thirty victims.

Facebook released the following statement:

"Facebook works to help people can freely while protecting the rights of others. We do not tolerate content which is directly harmful, such as bullying, but behavior which some people may find offensive or controversial is not always necessarily against our rules. We encourage people to report things to us which they feel breaks our Community Standards so we can review and take action on a case by case basis. We also give people the ability to remove themselves from an uncomfortable conversation through tools such as untraggin and blocking."

YouTube and other social media sites have taken many of the posts down, but that has not stopped people from playing the game.
