Shooting Victim, Found Wounded Near USC Gate, Dies

Investigators say the fatal shooting was unrelated to USC.

The victim of a South Los Angeles shooting who was then found Wednesday morning near a USC entrance gate has died, officials confirmed Thursday.

Adrian Dawson, 22, died on Wednesday night in the hospital, according to the L.A. County Coroner.

Investigators and USC's Department of Public Safety say the shooting is unrelated to USC,

Investigators are still piecing together a timeline for the incident, but say Dawson was wounded near the intersection of 57th and Hoover streets, about three miles south of campus, then transported to 36th St. and Vermont Ave, near USC's gate six.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The suspect is believed to be a man aged 20 to 30 and was driving a gold-colored Mercedes Benz or BMW, police said.
