Smog In Beijing Reaches High Levels

Air pollution in Beijing has reached nine times the safe limit.

The city of Beijing's smog levels escalated on Tuesday to dangerous levels.

Residents from Beijing such as USC student Mengyi Sun are concerned about the effects of the pollution.

Beijing and surrounding cities are on what is called an "Orange Alert", the second-highest level in China's four-tiered pollution alert system.

As a result children are being kept inside during school and residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid outdoor activities.
