Holocaust Remembrance Day

Museum of Tolerance held its annual Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemoration with Anne Frank's closest living relative, Bernd Elias, in attendance.

Jack Lenin is a Holocaust survivor who was liberated by the red army in 1945 at Auschwitz. Lenin attented the Museum of Tolerance's ceremony today to commemorate Holocaust events and survivors. Jack said, "It makes me feel good that they make sure the younger generation remembers because they're aren't many of us survivors left."

The Associate Director of the museum agreed with Lenin, stating that the goal of commemoration is to never forget the dead, the survivors, or the victimizers. The goal is to prevent history from being rewritten. The museum also wants to make sure people understand and recognize the children of the Shoa and they are making sure this happens through their new exhibit, entitled, Annie: The Life of Anne Frank.

Anne Frank's closest living relative, Bernd Elias, spoke at the ceremony. He fondly remembered Frank as "the greatest leader of the Jewish people." Elias is featured in the exhibit, which includes the whole family's journey.
