LAPD Motorcycle Officer Dies after Sun Valley Crash

The LAPD motorcycle officer hit by an allegedly impaired driver Saturday night died Wednesday afternoon.
Officer Chris Cortijo, a 26-year veteran, was struck by an SUV while stopped at an intersection in Sun Valley.
The woman accused of striking Cortijo pled not guilty to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
LAPD Chief Charlie Beck tweeted, "It is with great sadness I bear the news of Officer Chris Cortijo passing this afternoon. God bless his family."
