Victims of Bus Crash Remembered
Adrian Castro was a star athlete and student at El Monte High School. He was involved in student government, and hoped to be the first in his family to graduate from college. Castro's friends fondly remember him as an outstanding young man with "a good future ahead of him."
Castro and forty-three other students were on their way to visit Humboldt State University in northern California when their tour bus slammed into a Fed-Ex truck. Castro, along with nine other students on the bus, were killed in the accident.
Students were shocked when they first heard the news. School officials say the healing process will be extensive. However, they are taking steps to ensure students and families are recieving necessary support. Robin Torres, the principal of El Monte High School, said "We're providing anything and everything they need."
Students say they hope to remember Castro for who he was, a positive influence and a good friend.
