Thousands of current and former students USC students dressed up in formal attire for school on Thursday as the annual Fall Career Fair took over Trousdale Parkway.

The fair featured business and organization recruiters who had individual booths and gave students mini-interviews, collected resumes and gave away free items. The employers came to look for students interested in full-time and part-time jobs as well as internships.

“There are 162 (booths) here today,” said Erin Jebavy, coordinator of the Career Fair. Jebavy estimated that two to three thousand students attend the fair, which also occurs during the spring semester.

Job seekers were anxious to get a few minutes with major companies like Goldman Sachs, Fox, Boeing and Accenture.

“Boeing is a really strong presence in Los Angeles,” said Michael Frank, a graduate student in the Viterbi School of Engineering, when asked what booths he was interested in. “But also consulting groups, like Accenture and Hitachi”.

Some students just came to work on their interview skills.

“I’m here to gain experience on how to talk to recruiters, how to approach people and do an elevator pitch, and show off my resume,” said senior Kymberly Vanderweyde, a Communications major.

Many of the businesses enjoy coming to USC because of the potential of the graduating students.

“We find some great talent from USC,” said Rani Bal, a recruiter from Thinkwell Group. “There is so much talent in this area”.

Attendees were also able to have pictures taken in their professional attire so they could post it to LinkedIn and other professional jobsites.

Students enjoyed the opportunity to meet with companies and lay the groundwork for a possible internship or job.

“Everyone is super nice and helpful and I would definitely do it again,” said junior Argine Tertryan, an Accounting major.

The Career Fair was sponsored by the USC Career Center.
