USC Homecoming "Going Green"

USC’s biggest homecoming celebration is going green.

USC’s biggest homecoming celebration is going green.

This year’s festivities start Thursday night and will feature a bicycle-powered main stage and lights.

USC students donated about 20 bicycles, and each one is sponsored by a campus organization. A member from each organization will ride the bike all night long to pump power into the stage and power the whole event, said Ama Amoafo-yeboah, executive director of the USC program board.

The bicycle-powered stage will be provided by Rock the Bike, a San Francisco based company that blends bikers and pedal power, according to their website.

The night’s events will also feature the Trojan Marching Band, followed by performances by DJ Cliff and Blue Noise. Other activities include a photo booth, a food-eating contest, giveaways, bungee jumping, body painting and more.

Events start at 7 p.m. at McCarthy Quad.

Students and alumni share thoughts in anticipation of the big weekend.
