David Bataller

Class of 2005, Bachelor's

When David Bataller was in the first grade, he was asked to write about what he wanted to be when he grew up. His answer: A sportscaster.

Two decades later, David is following that ambitious goal. The self-proclaimed sports nut comes to the Central Valley from Yuma, Arizona, where he won an AP Broadcasting Award while Sports Director at KSWT from 2006-2008. Prior to Yuma, David worked as an associate producer for Channel 4 San Diego. Other career-related stops include paid internships at Sky Sports in London, England, and KNBR 680 radio in San Francisco, and an internship in the sports department at KNSD in San Diego.

David is a California native. He was born in La Jolla and grew up a half-hour north in beautiful Carlsbad. He went on to graduate with honors from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism and his Master's Degree in Print Journalism. And yes, he loves his Trojans! He also earned a Minor in Spanish, and is fluent in the language.

David is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Lambda Pi Eta (Communication) and Sigma Delta Pi (Spanish) Honor Societies. He looks forward to finally spending time with friends and family members in the South Valley. In his spare time, you can find him desperately trying to break 85 on the golf course, or watching anything and everything sports.
