Kandiss Crone

Class of 2004, Master's

A native of southern California, Kandiss Crone is thrilled to be back on the West Coast as a reporter for 10News. She comes to San Diego from Omaha, Nebraska, where she served as weekend anchor/reporter for the CBS affiliate. While in Omaha, Kandiss covered major weather events ranging from winter blizzards to violent spring tornadoes.

Kandiss enjoys being a reporter because she has always loved for people to share their personal stories with her. She finds it rewarding to be a voice for people and to help bring about positive changes in their neighborhoods, on the job, and in other areas of their lives.

Prior to Omaha, Kandiss worked in Jackson, Mississippi, where she helped cover Hurricane Gustav. She interviewed evacuees who left their homes from all parts of the state to take refuge at the Mississippi Coliseum. Some of the most memorable people she met while reporting in the south include Myrlie Evers-Williams (widow of civil rights leader Medgar Evers), blues sensation B.B. King, and many others.

Originally from Oxnard, California, Kandiss holds a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and has been awarded by the association for her work.

When she's not in the newsroom, she enjoys listening to live music, cooking, hiking, and singing.
