Mileka got her start in the Lone Star State working along the border in Laredo. But she's spent the last four years just down the road in San Antonio at KEYE TV sister station KABB Fox 29.
Mileka started out on the morning show helping commuters "Beat the Traffic" then spent two years anchoring weekends and reporting on evenings. She loved everything she got to do while working in San Antonio. But as a member of a military family, it was truly an honor for her whenever she got a chance to cover the incredible things happening in Military City, U.S.A. From the revolutionary treatment developed for combat canines suffering from post traumatic stress disorder to being embedded during a 22-hour training day with the USAF Pararescue, one of the most elite Special Operation Forces teams -- Mileka felt privileged to share the incredible stories of our men and women (and pups) who serve.
Mileka was born and raised on the Big Island, Hawaii. Growing up in the islands, she enjoyed surfing and dreaming about traveling the world some day. She's a proud Magna Cum Laude graduate from the University of Southern California and as long as those Longhorns aren't playing her Trojans, she'll be cheering them on!
When Mileka's not working, she and her husband enjoy adventuring around Austin, chasing their rescue dog around the park, and trying new places to eat. (Send suggestions, please.) Thank goodness for video chat because Mileka gets to "see" her family back home at least once a week.
Sure, the 2 a.m. alarms are tough on Mondays but Mileka couldn't be more excited about returning to the "bright side" as an anchor for KEYE TV Morning News.
