Explosion Injures Three in Anaheim [Updated]
Three men were injured when an above-ground transformer exploded in Anaheim Wednesday morning.
The explosion occurred in front of an apartment complex in the 2500 block of West Lincoln Avenue. According to Margie Otto, a spokeswoman for Anaheim Public Utilities, the victims were sent to the hospital with burn injuries.
Otto said that the victims were "talking and conscious" after the accident.
[UPDATE | 1:16 p.m., October 26, 2011 One worker was released from the hospital shortly after noon to recuperate at home. Two of the workers were contractors and another is a city Public Utilities employee. Their neames were not released.]
In response, city officials shut off power on the block from Magnolia Avenue to Gain Street as a precaution.
The cause of the explosion has not been determined.
