Elderly Woman Stabbed, Grandson Arrested [Updated]

The woman lived on the 900 block of West 41st Street in South Los Angeles. Police closed off streets in the neighborhood for several hours while the 42-year-old grandson barricaded himself in the home.
Paramedics and police were called at approximately 2:10 p.m., according to Officer Karen Rayner of the LAPD. She was then transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The grandson was spotted that afternoon in the rear yard of the house where the stabbing occurred, police said. He was arrested by police at 6:20 p.m..
The grandson's name has not been released. Reports say that the grandson lived in his grandmother's home and he had a history of drug abuse.
