Pac-12 Basketball Tournament Live Blog

Live blog from the Pac-12 basketball tournament at the Staples Center.

Read the full game recap.

5:00 p.m.: Final score UCLA-55, USC-40.  The Trojans scored just 19 points in the second half.

4:57 p.m.: One minute remaining in play. With a mix of shots not falling and slow defense, USC is down by 15.

4:55 p.m.: Allen now with four personal fouls.  USC seems to start to fade in energy with some sloppy defense.

4:50 p.m.: The Bruins stretch the lead to 52-39 with 3:14 left in the game.  USC has scored just 18 points this half.

4:45 p.m.: Smith returns to the game with a power dunk giving the Bruins a 48-33 point lead with 7:11 remaining.

4:40 p.m.: This could be the last year that USC and UCLA face off in a PAC-12 Tournament so close to home.  There have been reports that next year's tournament is set to move to the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

4:35 p.m.: With the Wear twins in together, USC struggles underneath defensively.  Height is definitely a missing component from this year's team without Curtis Washington and Dewayne Dedmon in the mix.

4:31 p.m.: Blasczyk in foul trouble with four.  He's replaced on the court with freshman Alexis Moore.

4:29 p.m.: USC has scored just 7 points in the past 9 minutes of play.

4:26 p.m.: UCLA coach Ben Howland fires back at the refs well into the timeout for the last foul called.

4:25 p.m.: Smith taken out after his third personal foul.  That makes for six team fouls for UCLA.  USC has two.

4:20 p.m.: At 6'10 and 305 lbs, UCLA center Joshua Smith is a powerhouse down low when he has the stamina to stay in the game.  Smith fouled below for the 3-point play making the score 39-25 with 14:26 remaining in the game.

4:13 p.m.: Strangis continues to get beat up under the basket by Wear.  No fouls called, but Strangis has ended up on the ground last three possessions.

4:10 p.m.: UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero booed by crowd while on screen for "Kiss-Cam."

4:10 p.m.: USC is quick to call a timeout after UCLA runs the score up to 29-23.

4:07 p.m.: And the second half has started here at Staples Center. USC's Greg Allen and UCLA's Travis Wear have back-to-back layups to start the half.

3:50 p.m.: The PAC-12 welcomes many former Olympians at today's tournament.

3:47 p.m.: Strangis' shot is blocked after strong inside defense by UCLA. UCLA is up 22-21 at half.

3:45 p.m.: The size of Travis Wear dominates down under.  The Trojans continue to really struggle going head-to-head with the 6'10 forward.

3:42 p.m.: After starting out strong with 7 points early in the game, sophomore Garrett Jackson has been quiet the rest of the first half.

3:40 p.m.: USC coach Kevin O'Neil fired up about foul called on James Blasczyk.  Calls time out after UCLA makes two freethrows giving the Trojans only a 1 point lead with 2:09 left in the first half.

3:35 p.m.: USC guard Byron Wesley's recent hot streak continues today.  The freshman is on his game with a strong 9 points so far.

3:27 p.m.: Despite being just a ten-minute drive from campus, there are hardly any USC students at today's game.

3:25 p.m.: USC's Garrett Jackson breaks the scoreless streak with a three.  USC is up 15-9 with 7:30 remaining in the first half.

3:20 p.m.: Both teams slow on scoring and just can't seem to get the shots to fall.  The most energy in this place is coming from the UCLA cheerleaders.

3:15 p.m.: USC seems to be struggling with size inside the paint on offense but could make up for it in freethrows down the line

3:12 p.m.: Crowd is UCLA heavy with lots of "Let's Go Bruins!" cheers this afternoon at the Staples Center.  USC fans scattered throughout.

3:08 p.m.: UCLA Forward Travis Wear tips it in making the score leaving UCLA up 6-5 after 5 minutes of play.

3:05 p.m.: UCLA wins the tip off.  First score of the game with a freethrow at 17:12.

ATVN will be blogging live updates from the mens basketball team's first round game of the Pac-12 basketball tournament vs. UCLA at the Staples Center.
