'Day of the Dead' Celebrations Encourage Immigration Reform

Families made altars that honored the deceased and called for the passage of immigration legislation.

Members of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles gathered Tuesday to celebrate the 'Day of the Dead' and increase awareness and support for immigration reform.

Families made altars that commemorated the deceased in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of family and to support the passage of immigration legislation.

The commemoration also honored the hundreds of people who die each year trying to cross the U.S./Mexico border.
