New Study Shows Cost of Low-Wage Fast Food Workers
A University of California Berkeley study released Tuesday showed how much money low-wage fast food workers are costing Americans.
The UC Berkeley study stated that more than half of fast food employees are dependent upon public assistance.
McDonald's employees dressed as clowns and gathered at a North Hollywood McDonalds to demand an increase in minimum wage from $8.69 to $10.00 an hour.
"We want justice, we want it now!" the employees chanted in protest.
"It's just really hard when you work for a company and they're not providing. You're helping the company, but they're not helping you," said Laura Dave, a McDonald's employee.
Some McDonald's customers said they're concerned an increase in minimum wage would be costly for them.
"Whatever they get increased, we the customers, we're the ones that pay the big companies. They don't lose nothing," said LA resident Miguel Ramos.
