USC Relieves Women's Soccer Head Coach Ali Khosroshahin

USC women's soccer head coach Ali Khosroshahin was relieved of his duties following a 8-10-2 2013 campaign.

USC athletic director Pat Haden announced that USC women's soccer head coach Ali Khosroshahin has been relieved of his duties. The Women of Troy struggled this season finishing 8-10-2 overall and 3-7-1 in conference play. The Women of Troy concluded their season with a 4-1 loss to cross-town rival UCLA.

Khosroshahin spent seven seasons with the Trojans and had success for the first four years. He led USC to the NCAA title in his 2007 debut season, which followed with three NCAA Tournament appearances. Unfortunately, in the past three years the Women of Troy finished with sub-.500 records. This past season USC finished in 11th place in the Pac-12.

"I would like to thank USC for the privilege and opportunity to lead the women's soccer program, and I wish them all the best in the future," said Khosroshahin via USC athletics. "It was tremendous to be part of the Trojan Family."

Khosroshahin was the first coach to win a national title in their first season with their program. His early success led him to be named National Coach of the Year by the NSCAA, SoccerBuzz and Soccer America. In 2007 he had a career-best winning record finishing 20-3-2.

The Women of Troy finished 3-7-1 in Pac-12 play.

His overall record at USC was 82-53-15 and 30-31-8 in the Pac-12. Unfortunately, in the past three seasons Khosroshahin's record with the team was 21-33-5 and did not place higher than sixth place.

"We wish Ali well and thank him for his dedicated service in bringing the first NCAA women's soccer title to USC and to the Pac-12 in 2007," said Haden. "Based on the past few years, we felt it was time to go in a new direction. We need to reinvigorate our program and get back to contending for NCAA and conference championships."

The USC women's soccer team has plenty of young talent with only five seniors on the current roster. Sophomore's Katie Johnson and Jamie Fink were second in scoring posting five goals each on the season. Freshman Kayla Mills made her presence on the team posting up four goals on the season.

Haden has not yet named an interim coach, and with the offseason here USC will begin a national search to replace Khosroshahin.
