Keidane McAlpine Named USC Women's Soccer Head Coach

A national search was conducted and now the search is over for the Women of Troy. Former Washington State women's soccer head coach Keidane McAlpine has been named the USC women's soccer head coach. McAlpine was the 2013 Pac-12 and NSCAA Pacific Region Coach of the Year.

McAlpine joins the Trojans after serving as the head coach at Washington State for the past two seasons. During his time with the Cougars he led his team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and finished in second place in the Pac-12. 

In 2013, Keidane McAlpine led WSU to a 6-4-1 record in the Pac-12 and an overall record of 12-6-2.

"I'm excited to get to work and be a part of the Trojan family," said McAlpine. "It was great to work with the student-athletes at Washington State, and I thank them for their hard work and dedication. I'm looking forward to working with a new set of women with the goal of bringing the national championship back to USC."

USC athletic director Pat Haden announced on Monday that McAlpine will take over as head coach replacing the fired Ali Khosroshahin. McAlpine becomes the fourth women's soccer head coach, and takes over a team that finished the season 8-10-2 overall and 3-7-1 in conference play. When they faced the Cougars the Women of Troy fell 2-0. 

This past season the Cougars tied for the program record in victories. McAlpine finished the season 14-3-4 and set/tied 27 school records. His coaching experience showed in his first year as head coach at WSU.

The Cougars went 6-4-1 in the Pac-12 and finished with an overall record of 12-6-2. McAlpine's defensive schemes also proved successful as the Cougars finished the season ranked No. 7 in the nation. They only allowed 11 goals all year. 

"[McAlpine] has already shown his ability to coach and succeed at the highest level, and his experience as a head coach in the Pac-12 is a big plus," said Haden. "We believe he is uniquely qualified to lead USC back to the successful level that we expect for our soccer program."

Before joining the Cougars, McAlpine spent six years as an assistant at Auburn and helped the Tigers to NCAA appearances each season. During his time with the Tigers the team won three SEC West titles.
