Yoshinoya Hosts Sumo Eating Contest

Yoshinoya near USC is celebrating its opening all week long with giveaways and contests.

Yoshinoya celebrated its return to the USC neighborhood with a Sumo Beef Bowl eating-contest Wednesday.

The Japanese fast food chain, known for its beef bowls,will host a weeklong celebration.

On Thursday Yoshinoya will give away free sweet potato puffs with every order, and on Friday all sales will be donated to the Red Cross to help those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

The chain, located at 3021 S. Figureroa St., opened Monday.
