Students Strip Down For Fair Labor Conditions

S.C.A.L.E. members marched in swim suits to protest clothes made in sweatshops.

USC's Student Coalition Against Labor Exploitation (S.C.A.L.E.) rallied Thursday to protest USC's ties with companies that hire sweatshop workers.

Students marched from University Church to the Campus Center and then to President Max Nikias' office in Bovard Auditorium.

S.C.A.L.E. participants hope Thursday's march will draw attention to the organization's efforts.

Members of the group want USC to sign an accord that will ensure companies tied to USC provide fair labor conditions for their workers.

The vice provost of Student Affairs said he's having ongoing conversations with concerned students, including S.C.A.L.E. He also said USC clothing is manufactured under safe and fair working conditions.
