Rumor Mill Starts Running over New Clippers Owner
After the NBA officially banned Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the NBA, bids for ownership of the L.A. team have reportedly started coming in.
Among the list of suitors are Magic Johnson, Larry Ellison, the fifth-richest man in the world, and even boxer Floyd Mayweather.
While she claimed no interest in owning the team in a recent interview with TMZ, Oprah Winfrey is reportedly considering making a bid for the Clippers, according to a spokeswoman for the talk show host.
Jeff Fellenzer, a sports business professor at USC, says Magic Johnson is the most ideal candidate because "he can do what he did with the Dodgers and head a team of owners that would help the team grow."
Despite the rumors, Sterling has yet to give up ownership of the team.
