Pac-12 Media Day Sitdown with Cody Kessler
USC quarterback Cody Kessler spoke to members of the media at his first Pac-12 Media Day on July 23.
Kessler has been the definitive starter at quarterback since April 15, unlike last season when he and former quarterback Max Wittek shared the job for two games.
"Being the starter now has given me a ton more confidence, especially last year getting a full year start under my belt. So, I know what I need to do or how I need to perofrm for us to win games," said Kessler.
Fall camp officially kicks off on August 4. Kessler spoke about how hard the team has been working in summer workouts to continue getting used to the new up-tempo offense under new head coach Steve Sarkisian.
"During the summer...we probably had, I'd say, 100 [plays] in about an hour," said Kessler.
In 14 games last season, Kessler threw 20 TD's for 2,968 yards with just 7 interceptions. Kessler was named MVP in the Trojans' 45-20 victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs. He has already been named to some 2014 pre-season watchlists, including ones for the Maxwell Award, given to the 'Most Outstanding Player' in the nation, and the Davey O'Brien Award, given to the 'Best Quarterback' in the nation.
Kessler will lead USC in their first game of the 2014 season on August 30 against Fresno State.
