Aiming For The Best

TAGS:

I’m very happy with my teammates and the progress we make each week. It’s crazy to look back on our first shows and realize how much we have improved since, and how each week we work better together. I feel like there isn’t as much tension between us as there was in the beginning because we have gotten to know each other better, and each person’s strength and weaknesses. While things have been running pretty smooth in the newsroom lately, there is always room for improvement.

The biggest issue that my teammates and I have constantly been having is lack of communication. Sometimes we might just have one small meeting at around noon to update each other on what’s going on, but then throughout the rest of the day, we each do our own thing and never meet again. This lack of communication tends to cause some confusion at the end of the day because sometimes we might assign a story to an MJ, when in fact it’s already been assigned, or we might forget to request a video because we’re relying on another producer to do it, or we might see something wrong in the rundown, but we expect the lead producer to fix it, or make a note of it, etc. I tried working on this yesterday and I made an effort to at least talk and update my teammates every two hours. I also felt like yesterday’s show was one of the best ones we’ve had so far, so I want to believe that some of that had to do with the fact that I tried communicating more with both the lead and graphics producer.

I look forward to talking to my teammates about what they think we need to work on together in order to make the best out of the next few shows.
