Producers

It’s A Wrap!

TAGS:

I can’t believe this semester has come to an end. It was a privilege to be part of the first group of producers in the new Media Center and together with my team, I learned and grew as a person.  There are so many great memories and friendships I formed at ATVN, and I will forever remember them.

Since being a producer at ATVN this semester was no easy job, let me share with you a few of the things I learned, and things I wish I would have known back in August. The most valuable thing I learned this semester was the importance of organization. As a producer, you’re managing a team of about 40 or more students, who constantly need your help, so there isn’t time to slack off. Do not leave things until last minute because you will find yourself cramming, and this will prevent you from looking over your rundown before going live.

If I could rewind back to August, I wish I would have known the importance of communication. Although my teammates and I learned the hard way, it’s extremely important to communicate your thoughts, ideas, concerns, etc. with everyone in the newsroom. If people are not aware of the changes you are making to the rundown, a lot of things could go wrong. There were several times when my teammates and I could have avoided ourselves some misunderstandings, had we communicated a little better.

Nonetheless, I got to grow and learn a lot from my teammates, and I’m extremely proud of all of the shows that we were able to put together this semester!
