Lucky number 13
This week was one of the extremely productive because both producers were in house working on many stories. Lexie, who usually goes out to film, wrote four solid stories. Those stories include: 2011 Oscar hosts announced, President Barack Obama announces pay freeze, Port of Los Angeles trailer heist, Classified U.S. documents released.
Meanwhile, Lauren worked on two interesting stories. The first being 4G Internet access opened to L.A. county and the second is Alcoholic whipped cream flies off U.S. shelves. The latter was one of my favorite stories of the day. And for all those cinema fans out there, I wrote the Leslie Nielsen obit.
Later on in the day Alex got to cover some great stories including: Freshman dies in Pardee Tower, School held hostage, Bears fan falls to death at Soldier Field, Manhunt underway, LAUSD considers starting the school year early, Dodger Defection. We really had another full news day with a wide variety of stories covered.
All in all, this has been a great semester for Monday’s Web team. I’ve seen significant growth from everyone in both the quantity and quality of their work. For example, one of the first few weeks we only produced three stories and now we’re up to thirteen! Hopefully next semester the Web team will be able to continuously improve and produce even more stories.
