The Secret to an Impeccable Newscast
In an ideal world, every video in a newscast would be written in sync to the images. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, and coupled with corresponding words, a newscast would be impeccable.
Alas, when a newscast is dependent on a team, producers lose control between crafting a rundown and editing footage. In fact, very rarely, if ever, does a producer edit any video, and teases are no exception.
This week, I was the graphics teammate, so I had little say over what video was chosen to be edited. I did, however, get the chance to assign an MJ to edit the super-teases and as much as I could, I tried to teach the MJ the importance of editing in sync to the script.
It’s a difficult task sometimes when one is in a rush to do make sure this gets done, but when it is done, it makes a difference.
