Producers

So Many Goals, So Little Time

I have learned so much from everything and everyone in the newsroom. However, I still have a long way to go to become a successful producer. Here are some of the goals I would like to achieve by the end of this semester.

To come up with unique ways to cover stories. #Goals

To create a rundown before 6 p.m. #Goals

To plan everything ahead with all the MJs and reporters. #Goals

To always write interesting, clever pre-shows and teases. #Goals

Making sure that by 4:30 p.m. most of the videos have CGs,TRTs and Runs. #Goals

Be aware of the wires and make sure our stories don’t change through the day. #Goals

Creating new and unique ways to produce the show. #Goals

Knowing what’s worthy to put on the A-Block and what’s not. #Goals

Formatting the show in iNews the right way. #Goals

Communicating with other producers. #Goals

One thing I started doing a couple of weeks ago is writing everything down on a piece of paper or notepad. I am a visual person and this helps me have everything in one place. Organization and planning ahead are two of things that I struggle with the most. Another thing I started doing is to go at least every half hour to other producers asking if they need help with anything. That way we are all helping each other.

But most importantly, my biggest goal in this class is to be able to produce the show with as little faculty supervision as possible. This is more of a personal goal. I hope to achieve it.
