Big rig crash in Long Beach

A big rig truck has crashed on a Long Beach freeway overpass, with the cab overturning and the rest collapsing onto the roadway below.

A Big Rig Semi went off a freeway ramp today in Long Beach.

The truck was going from the 91-east to the 710-south when the trailer went over the transition ramp and onto a freeway entrance.

Traffic was stalled on both the 91-east freeway and Artesia Blvd, where the wreck occurred.

The cab of the big rig stayed on the transition ramp while the trailer spilled over the ramp and onto the 710 freeway entrance from Artesia Blvd.

The transition ramp was closed for several hours as crews removed the truck and cleaned the wreckage. Firefighters spent more than two hours alone removing the trailer from the big rig.

The driver survived the accident but was sent to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Nobody else was injured from the wreck.
