Facebook to Organize Friends Into "Smart Lists"
Ever since Google Plus made its appearance, Facebook has been revamping itself to keep up with the constant changes. Well, it's finally here. Starting Wednesday, Facebook will launch an optional "smart list" that allows users to sort their friends into specific lists.
Rather than sharing posts with all friends, users can now read and share updates based upon specific friend groups.
"Users don't really want to spend a lot of time creating and maintaining friends lists," said Naomi Gleit, Director of Product, who worked on the feature.
Facebook will automatically group your friends into school friends, coworkers, and people who live within a 50 mile radius. Users will also be able to customize their friends into custom lists such as "close friends", hobbies and family.
The option of creating a "close friends" list will allow users to see photos and posts more often than listing friends as "acquaintances".
While Google Plus currently holds the interest of many social media users, Facebook continually pushes to keep up with the changing competition.
