Drinking Incident On Gameday Means More Awareness On The Row
Two drinking-related incidents from tailgating events on fraternity and on-campus tailgates sparked awareness of drink safety precautions in the Greek Community.
One student was transported to California Hospital after tailgating on the Greek Row and on-campus, according to public safety officials. The student claimed they were intoxicated beyond the amount of alcohol they consumed and believe someone might have drugged them with Rohypnol. No formal report has been made to the USC Department of Public Safety at this time.
Although the instance has not been confirmed or denied, members of the Greek Community have been encouraged to make safe decisions when they go out.
“It is general prevention and common sense choices that stop these situations from occurring,” said David Carlisle, Captain of Department of Public Safety. “Only drink where you know exactly where the drink comes from so that no one has tampered with it.”
The status of the student in the hospital is unknown at this time.
