L.A. Heat Wave Expected to End

Temperatures are also expected to be 10 degrees lower on Friday and almost 20 degrees lower on Saturday.

A mini heat wave that set record temperatures in the Southland is expected to end Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, the high temperature is the product of an upper-level high-pressure system combined with offshore winds gusting as high as 25 miles per hour.

A cooling trend is expected on Friday when onshore winds will return to the region, causing temperatures to be 10 degrees lower on Friday and almost 20 degrees lower on Saturday.

Downtown tied a record for an Oct. 12 with a high of 99 that was previously set in 1950. Long Beach also set a record with a high of 102.
