Swastika Graffiti Removed, Search Continues

Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis said he could not provide any more details in fear that "it might jeopardize the case."
However, Lewis said Wednesday they "may release something today. That's all up to the detectives. It's their case."
Lewis is calling this vandalism "a hate crime."
Between Saturday and Sunday night, at least 12 swastikas were sprayed in red paint in Santa Monica. Two reports of painted swastikas were reported Monday, Lewis said.
"We have a few [such] incidents every year but usually a low number," said Sgt. Richard Lewis, a spokesman for the Santa Monica Police Department told the LATimes.
There were also reports of swastikas spray-painted in Brentwood. However, Sgt. Lewis says he does not know if the two incidents are related.
Santa Monica city crews were sent out to remove the graffiti the morning after the crime.
