USC Releases New Transportation iPhone App

The new app allows students to track their transportation options in real time.

On Monday USC Transportation released their new iPhone application that students can use to access the various transportation services USC provides.

USC Transportation told ATVN that eventually they would also like to create an app that tracks parking availability at campus structures.

The app is divided up into six different categories:

Services Nearby

This category of the app allows users to locate various bus stops, entrances and parking using their current location. The contact information for the Transportation Office is also provided as well as a bus tracker.  

Campus Cruiser

This section of the app allows students to call campus cruiser to track and check the status of their ride as well as  cancel their cruiser.

Zipcar, Zimride & Enterprise

Links to the Zipcar, Zimride and Enterprise rental services web sites are provided on this category of the app.

Hours of Operation

Hours of the various offices within the Transportation Department are provided, as well as L.A. Live Shuttle hours and schedules to the cruisers and shuttles.

Instant Feedback

In this section of the app, users are able to leave their student ID number, email and any comments to the Transportation Department.

News (via Facebook)

Various news alerts regarding traffic stops, events with street closures and even suggesions on what metro line to use are sent out through their facebook page.
