Men's Water Polo Wins Fourth-Straight Title
The Men of Troy are champions once again after knocking off the crosstown rival Bruins Sunday in Berkeley.
USC beat UCLA 7-4 in the championship game, becoming the first team to ever win four consecutive national championships. Senior goalie Joel Dennerely racked up 15 saves in the match and was named NCAA Tournament MVP. He, along with Peter Kurzeka, have now won a national championship in all four of their years at USC.
Kurzeka was named to the NCAA Tournament first team, along with sophomore Nikola Vavic.
USC clobbered Princeton 17-4 in the semifinal game to earn a spot in Sunday's final.
This was USC's seventh straight appearance in the title game, a feat only accomplished by one other team in NCAA history (Cal). Coach Jovan Vavic has now won 10 national titles- seven with the men and three with the USC women's water polo team.
