Freshman Class Among the Most Diverse Ever
The statics surrounding this years' freshman class were released Thursday, and showed the class of 2016 as one of the most diverse and competitive class ever at USC.

USC boasted a 20 percent admission rate for this year's fall class, accepting only 3,021 students out of 46,104 applicants.
Not only was the competition high for the freshman class, but their standardized testing scores were high as well. The average test scores for the incoming class were with in the 95th percentile. With an average GPA of 3.70, about 90 percent of the incoming freshman were the top 10 percent in their high school, and about 10 percent of them were valedictorians.
“This year’s entering freshman class has set new standards for quality and diversity," said USC Dean of Admission Timothy Brunold in a statement.
"The impressive character of this latest group of new Trojans reinforces the fact that USC continues to attract the best and brightest from all over the country and across the world. We have no plans on slowing down; we are already aggressively recruiting students for the entering class of 2013.”
By the numbers, USC's new freshman class is one of the most diverse class ever in the school's 132-year history.
- 21: percentage of under-represented minority students
- 6: percent of African American students
- 13: percent of Latino students
- 2: percent of Native American/Pacific Islander
- 23: percent Asian students
Probably the most exciting statistic for USC, however, is that 14 percent of this fall's freshman class are the first in their families to attend college, the most ever in an incoming USC class.

Hi ATVN, just wanted to let you know about an error in the article. It states that USC accepted "only 3,021 students out of 46,104 applicants." We actually accepted (or admitted) 9,187 students, of which 3,021 enrolled.
