Students Rally For Prop 30, Against Prop 32

Students at Cal State Long Beach held a rally Thursday in favor of Prop 30 and against Prop 32.

Students at Cal State Long Beach held a rally Thursday in favor of Prop 30 and against Prop 32.

If Prop 30 is passed, K-12 schools and community colleges in California will recieve funds from sales and income taxes. CSULB students say that they are for Prop 30 because it will decrease tuitions. Prop 30 is endorsed by Governor Jerry Brown, who says that it will stop another $6 billion in cuts to public schools. Opponents on Prop 30 aren't convinced that it will lead to any reform or funding for schools and instead cost tax payers $50 billion over the next seven years.

CSULB students are also rallying against Prop 32 because they say it will restrict workers and their uniforms from financing the political campaign, while ignoring thousands of big businesses. Other proponentss say it will prohibit the deduction of political money from worker paychecks, making all political contributions truly voluntary. Opponents of the proposition say it is a fraudulent meausre that would give special exemptions billionaires and big businesses.
