Former Miramonte Teacher Arraigned

Deputy District Attorney Allison Meyers discusses Springer's trial.

Former Miramonte Elementary teacher Martin Springer was arraigned Monday.

Springer plead not guilty to charges of lewd conduct upon a female student.

The court date is set to take place in 60 days but some factors may arise to impede the hearing, said Deputy District Attorney Allison Meyers.
“It really depends on a lot of factors…are the people ready, is the defense ready,” said Meyers.

Springer will be out on bail with an ankle monitor until the trial begins.

Springer was charged to lewd conduct with a female student in February, becoming the second account of inappropriate behavior with a child.  Mark Berndt was charged with 23 charges of lewd acts with children.
