Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board inspected the scene of an accident at the Altadena heliport on Monday.

The crash occurred at 4 p.m. on Saturday when one helicopter was taking off and the other was landing. Six Pasadena police officers were involved in the helicopter crash, but none were seriously injured. One pilot and an observer were in each helicopter and two officers were on ground.

Investigators say that the main rotor of one helicopter hit the other's. Both Bell OH-58 choppers suffered severe damage.

One helicopter had been patrolling the USC-UCLA game at the Rose Bowl and the other in Pasadena neighborhoods.

"Until we have an opportunity to interview the pilots...it's speculative to say who was coming and who was going," National Safety Board spokeswoman Lt. Phlunte Riddle said.
