Pasadena Community to Respond to NFL Talks

Rose Bowl area residents have expressed fears of traffic jams and an influx of unruly fans to the area as a result of accepting an NFL team. The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and local business, however, argue the arrival of a team would bring millions of dollars in revenue to the city.
"Our city could benefit from the extra jobs," National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (Pasadena Branch) President Joe Brown told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. "Full-time, part-time or seasonal jobs such as these can help residents provide for essential items to improve their quality of life."
A Nov. 5 report published by the Manhattan Beach consulting firm Barrett Sports Group estimates that an NFL team would bring $5 to $10 million a year to the Rose Bowl, whose recent renovations have skyrocketed to $195 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"We've encountered a difficult economy, and still face a gradual climb upward," Brown said. "For many, the NFL as the Rose Bowl could be a natural bridge to better days ahead."
No NFL team has yet commited to move to Pasadena or Los Angeles, where the city council recently approved plans to build a permanent NFL stadium in downtown Los Angeles.
