Chris Brown Avoids Alleged Assault Charges
Charges of misdemeanor battery against infamous pop star Chris Brown were dropped Monday, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The announcement was made after the alleged victim, fellow hip-hop artist Frank Ocean, said on Twitter that he did not wish to press charges against Brown.
"The alleged victim does not want to move forward, so we are not going to move forward," said Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore.
The conflict allegedly began with the two artists arguing over a parking spot outside of a West Hollywood recording studio, and ended with deputies responding to reports of six men fighting outside the studio.
However, Brown and his entourage left the scene before deputies could arrive.
Witnesses say they saw a large group of men fighting outside the studio, apparently over the parking spot.
After the incident, Ocean tweeted that he "got jumped by chris and a couple guys."
Sheriff's officials say they will conduct at least one more interview with Ocean before officially closing the case.
