Chrysler Recalls Over 300,000 Vehicles
Chrysler recalled more than 360,000 trucks and vehicles Thursday in order to fix a problem with the vehicles' rear axle, according to a press release from the company.
The recalled vehicles include 2009 Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen SUVs, 2009-11 Dodge Dakota trucks, and 2009-12 Ram 1500 trucks.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the pinion nut on the vehicles' rear axles may come loose, possibly causing the axles to lock up and drivers to lose control.
While the defective axles have been linked to 15 crashes, no injuries have been reported.
This is the second time Chrysler has recalled vehicles for this problem. Last October, a recall of 44,000 Rams and Dakotas revealed a broader recall was necessary, according to the Miami Herald.
More than 278,000 of the recalled vehicles are in the United States.
Dealers of the vehicles recalled will replace the pinion nut free of charge.
