Three victims were killed and six hospitalized in an Orange County shooting spree Tuesday morning after a shooter opened fire in Tustin, Ladera Ranch, and Orange, law enforcement officials said. The suspected shooter apparently turned the gun on himself in Orange.

"There are multiple crime scenes throughout Tustin and the surrounding areas," Tustin police Lt. Paul Garaven said. Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said there were a total of six crime scenes.

The spree began with an apparent carjacking and shooting in the Red Hill neighborhood of Tustin at approximately 5:10 a.m., Amormino said. The victim is alive and being treated at a nearby hospital.

The suspect then shot five additional people and carjacked two more cars before ending his own life at the intersection of Wanda Road and Katella Avenue in Orange. A shotgun was recovered from the scene.

The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s.

The shootings occurred at the following locations, according to law enforcement officials:

-The McFadden offramp from the southbound Costa Mesa (55) Freeway. The victim was fatally shot.

-Edinger Avenue, east of the 55 Freeway. One is dead and another injured.

-Ladera Ranch, where the victim was shot and killed.
