De Niro Honored at Chinese Theater

The "Silver Linings Playbook" star places his handprints and footprints in cement.

Robert De Niro is being honored by imprinting his hand and foot into wet cement at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Monday.

The theater, formerly known as Grauman's Chinese Theater, has held handprint and footprint ceremonies since its opening in 1927 with the premiere of "The King of Kings."

Its courtyard holds nearly two hundred autographs, handprints, and footprints of Hollywood celebrities, including legends Marilyn Monroe, Bing Crosby, and Elizabeth Taylor.

Even the wandprints of young "Harry Potter" wizards were placed in the cement.

The remaining space for newly immortalized celebrities is scarce and is reserved for true superstars.

Two-time Oscar winner and seven-time nominee, De Niro, joins those of honor in the Forecourt of the Stars.

He is nominated for a 2013 Academy Award for his supporting role in "Silver Linings Playbook" and is well known for starring in films such as "The Godfather: Part II" and "Taxi Driver."
