Police departments will collectively decide who will recieve the $1 million reward.
The scorched body found in a Big Bear cabin after a standoff with police has been positively identified through dental records as Christopher Dorner, officials announced Thursday.

The search for Dorner ended Tuesday after police found the fugitive ex-cop hiding in a cabin. Dorner exchanged fire with police before the cabin burned down.

While the Dorner saga has ended, it remains unclear who will receive the $1 million reward. More than 20 jurisdictions were involved in the offering the reward.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Police Chief Charlie Beck issued a statement that they will work to collectively determine who, if anyone, qualifies for the reward.

"Our personal hope is that the reward will be distributed, but we must follow the rules and respect the procedures of each entity," the statement said.
