Obama at Boston Memorial Service: 'You will Run Again'
President Barack Obama received multiple standing ovations as spoke at an Interfaith Service in Boston remembering the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.
The president along with several religious leaders and public leaders, including Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick, spoke at at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross Thursday morning.
Obama described the morning of this year's marathon as "a beautiful day to be in Boston." But, this serene morning was shattered by the twin bombings that killed three people and injured over 170 people at the finish line of this year's Boston Marathon.
He called Boston the nation's "beloved city," and noted that every American has a piece of Boston within them including himself.
"There is a piece of Boston in me," the president said as he referred to his time as a young law student at Harvard University.
He acknowledged the heroes who did not run away from the bombing, but instead went back to the explosion site to help their fellow Americans.
During his speech, Obama also spoke about those who committed these terrosist acts. "If they sought to intimadate us, to terrorize us...it should be pretty clear right now that they picked the wrong city to do it," he said.
Then he directly spoke to those responsible. "We will find you," he firmly said.
He told the country that this act of terror would not crush the spirit of Boston or act as an end to the historic marathon.
"This time next year on the third Monday in April, the world will return to this great American city to run harder than ever and cheer louder than ever at the 118th Boston Marathon... Bet on it!"
"Every one of us stands with you," Obama said. "You will run again!"
